Sounds Baths

The Sacred Medicine of Sound

The Sound Bath Effect

When you sink into a Sound Bath and guide your awareness to your listening, you allow your brain waves to slow, shifting from a more active state (beta) to a more relaxed state (alpha) or even a dreamlike state (theta). The sounds introduced during a Sound Bath are an invitation into deeper state of consciousness, an opportunity to unplug from external stimuli and to gain perspective on what’s going on within you.

Frequently Asked Questions - SOUND BATHS

Please reach us at selah@sacredselahsounds.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

I intentionally use the sound of harmonic vibrations created by singing bowls, tuning forks and gong to stimulate the alpha and theta brains waves. These waves are associated with deep meditative and peaceful states that are highly conductive to healing. And, as sound slows the heart and respiratory rate, it can also create a therapeutic and restorative effect on the mind and body.

During a Sound Bath, it’s important to practice neutrality to environmental sound. If thoughts pop into your head, let them come (“What will I eat for lunch?”) then gently guide your awareness back to the sound. Allow your listening to float from sound to sound, wherever you feel drawn. When you keep your attention loosely focused on the sound, it will take you where you need to go.

I recommend wearing loose comfortable clothes. You can bring a yoga mat, blanket, booster and eye mask.
